The Mi Headphones are supported by a 50mm diaphragm that the company claims is 4 times harder than steel and 60% lighter than titanium alloy. As per Xiaomi, the acoustic membrane of the headphones is 25% larger than other regular headphones, for better bass. The membrane is 2 microns thick. The headphones feature a semi-open design to reduce distortion and improve fidelity and comes with a dual damping system to absorb internally-reflected sound waves.
The headphones have aluminium grilles in gold finish with a black coloured leather-like band with red stitching. It comes with PU ear cushions filled with foam and weighs 220grams.
The headphones have a built-in Knowles MEMS microphone for calls, supported by a silver-plated copper wire that doesn’t cut off at the remote, but runs right through it to ensure an better signal transmission as per Xiaomi. The independent stereo channels are separated from the microphone line, minimizing interference and preserving the purest sound quality during calls, it adds.
The Kevlar fibers within the cable reduce tangles, resist breaks and enhance durability. The remote controller is compatible with popular Android phones and devices running iOS 5 and above. The headphones come with three replaceable on-ear and over-ear cushion kits – on-ear foam cushion, on-ear soft cushion and over-ear soft cushion.
The Xiaomi Mi In-ear headphones feature a metal diaphragm with a “sandwich” design. The company says this preserves the treble responses of metal, while improving richness in the lower ranges due to PET. The earphones feature 3rd gen balanced damping which, as per Xiaomi, improves airflow to deliver proportioned outflows for the front and back chambers for balanced sound and separate output channel and output hole in the front cavity for better balance and treble performance. The headphones undergo industrial and human audio tuning.
There’s a built-in Knowles MEMS microphone to provide a direct, solder-free connection. The earphones are fully compatible with Mi phones and partially compatible with iOS devices (volume up/down functions are not supported).
The headphones sport break-resistant kevlar fiber cable and brushed aluminium at the back. The metal surface of the earphones is anodized to protect against corrosion and wear, as per Xiaomi.
